Introduction
Orcaspo 70mg Injection is an antifungal medicine from the echinocandin class that contains the active substance Caspofungin. It is used to treat serious fungal infections in patients who do not respond to or cannot tolerate other antifungal therapies. This injection is mainly prescribed for invasive candidiasis, esophageal candidiasis, and invasive aspergillosis in both adult and pediatric patients.
Orcaspo 70mg Injection works by blocking an enzyme required for the fungus to build its cell wall. This weakens the fungus and helps the body clear the infection. It is usually given in hospitals by trained professionals through a slow IV drip.
The injection should not be used in patients who are allergic to Caspofungin or other ingredients in the formulation. If you have a history of severe allergic reactions to any antifungal medications, inform your doctor. Also, Orcaspo 70mg Injection may interact with drugs like cyclosporine, tacrolimus, and certain anti-seizure medications, which can either increase side effects or reduce treatment efficacy. Your doctor may suggest blood tests to monitor your liver and kidney function, especially during long-term use.
Before starting Orcaspo 70mg Injection, inform your physician if you have liver disease, are on a low-sodium diet, or have undergone recent surgery. If you are pregnant, planning to conceive, or breastfeeding, let your doctor know. Orcaspo 70mg Injection is used under medical supervision, and the dosage may vary based on weight, age, and the type of infection.
Uses of Orcaspo 70mg Injection
Orcaspo 70mg Injection is prescribed to treat:
-
Invasive candidiasis (fungal infection in the bloodstream or internal organs)
-
Esophageal candidiasis (infection in the food pipe)

-
Fungal infections in patients who do not respond to or cannot tolerate standard treatments
How Orcaspo 70mg Injection Works
Orcaspo 70mg Injection targets the fungal cell wall by blocking the production of β-D-glucan, an essential component that helps maintain fungal structure and survival. By stopping this synthesis, the fungal cells become weak and eventually die, helping to eliminate the infection.
