Introduction
Orzid AV 2.5gm Injection is a powerful combination antibiotic injection used to treat serious bacterial infections. It contains Ceftazidime, a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic, and Avibactam, a beta-lactamase inhibitor. Together, they fight tough, resistant bacteria that cause severe infections in the lungs (like pneumonia), abdomen, and urinary tract.
This medicine is usually given in hospitals under the supervision of a healthcare professional. It’s often reserved for infections that don’t respond well to standard antibiotics.
Before using this medicine, inform your doctor if you have allergies to cephalosporins, penicillins, or any antibiotics. People with kidney problems or a history of seizures should also take extra caution, as dose adjustments may be needed. Diarrhoea is a known side effect — if it becomes severe or bloody, notify your doctor immediately.
Uses of Orzid AV 2.5gm Injection
Orzid AV 2.5gm Injection is used to treat:
-
Pneumonia, including hospital-acquired and ventilator-associated pneumonia
-
Urinary tract infections (UTIs), including kidney infections
-
Complicated abdominal infections
How it works
Ceftazidime works by blocking the bacteria’s ability to build its protective cell wall, causing the bacteria to die. Avibactam supports this action by stopping certain enzymes (beta-lactamases) that could otherwise destroy the antibiotic. This powerful duo makes the medicine highly effective against resistant bacteria.
