Salpressin 20 Units Injection is used to treat the following:

• Diabetes Insipidus
• Cardiac Arrest
• Hemorrhagic Shock

Salpressin 20 Units Injection acts by binding to V2 receptors in the kidneys to increase water reabsorption, reducing urine output in diabetes insipidus. In cardiac arrest, it targets V1 receptors in blood vessels, causing vasoconstriction, elevating blood pressure, and improving blood flow during resuscitation. In severe hemorrhagic shock, its vasoconstrictive effects help maintain blood pressure and support vital organ perfusion until definitive treatment can be provided. Proper monitoring and dosing are essential due to their potent cardiovascular effects.

Inform the doctor about your medicines, including prescription, over-the-counter, nutritional or vitamin supplements, and herbal products. Certain medications may interact with Salpressin 20 Units Injection, reducing effectiveness by causing undesirable side effects. 

• Store at room temperature, between 20°C to 25°C (68°F to 77°F).
• Keep away from moisture, heat, and light.
• It should not be frozen.
• Keep away from children and pets.

Salpressin 20 Units Injection can be administered through various routes, including intravenous (IV), intramuscular (IM), subcutaneous (SC), and intranasal, depending on the medical condition and the need for rapid or sustained effects. Proper administration should be done under the supervision of healthcare professionals to ensure safety and effectiveness.

Salpressin 20 Units Injection causes some side effects like all medications, although not everyone will experience them. 

Serious:

• Allergic reactions
• Chest pain or irregular heartbeats
• Severe headache
• Confusion
• Changes in mental state
• Seizures
• Severe abdominal pain or cramping

Common:

• Nausea or vomiting
• Stomach cramps
• Headache
• Dizziness or lightheadedness
• Runny or stuffy nose
• Increased thirst
• Water retention or swelling

Caution should be exercised to monitor for severe allergic reactions, cardiovascular effects, and hyponatremia. Special care is required for patients with hepatic or renal impairment, the elderly, and pediatric patients, as they may have altered responses. During pregnancy and breastfeeding, the use of Salpressin 20 Units Injection should be approached cautiously, and potential drug interactions need to be considered.
