Sulbamed injection uses are:

• Lower respiratory tract infections
• Bacteraemia/sepsis
• Meningitis
• Surgical wounds
• Urinary tract infections

Sulbamed 2mg injection is an irreversible inhibitor of β-lactamase. It binds with the penicillin-binding proteins (PBP) of specific bacterial species exhibiting direct antimicrobial activity.

Inform your physician about all the prescribed medicine, over-the-counter medications, nutritional or vitamin supplements, and herbal supplements you have taken before. Certain medications may interact with the injection and can cause undesirable side effects. Tell your doctor if you are receiving probenecid because probenecid decreases the effect of sulbamed 2mg injection.

• Store between 20°C to 25°C.
• Avoid exposure to heat, light, and moisture.
• It should be kept away from children and pets.

This medication is available only as injections and administered intravenously (into a vein) or intramuscularly (into a muscle) by the healthcare provider on scheduled appointments. The dosage and frequency of sulbactam administration are determined depending on the severity of your disease and other considerations by the healthcare provider. It is crucial to adhere to their scheduled appointments for safe and effective treatment. Do not miss any scheduled Sulbamed 2 g injection dosage. Do not stop the treatment on your own without a doctor’s advice.

Sulbamed side effects are unwanted symptoms caused by medicines. Even though all medicines cause side effects, not everyone gets them.

Serious:

• Severe allergic reactions (rashes, itching, difficulty in breathing, fever)

Common:

• Injection site pain (which is usually minimized by diluting with local anesthesia by the physician)
• Thrombophlebitis (inflammation of the vein)
• Diarrhoea

• Allergy Warning – Serious or even fatal allergic reactions can happen if you’re allergic to beta-lactam antibiotics. Tell your doctor right away if you notice rashes, itching, or trouble breathing.

• Use Only When Needed – Sulbamed 2mg Injection should be given only for confirmed or strongly suspected bacterial infections. Using it unnecessarily can lead to drug-resistant bacteria.

• Follow the Dose Schedule – Take the injection exactly as prescribed. Missing doses can reduce its effectiveness and increase the risk of bacteria becoming resistant.

• Overdose Risks – Taking too much can cause serious neurological side effects, such as convulsions (fits).

• Special Care for Elderly – Older patients may need different dosing due to reduced kidney function. Close monitoring is important.
