Introduction to Telma Beta 25mg Tablet
Telma beta 25mg tablet belongs to the group of medications called antihypertensives. It contains a combination of Telmisartan and Metoprolol, which controls blood pressure when a single medication is ineffective. It is primarily used for the treatment of hypertension. Hypertension (high blood pressure) is a medical condition in which blood exerts a force on the artery walls (blood vessels), resulting in heart disease, irregular heartbeat, and other problems.
Hypotension (low blood pressure), headache, tiredness, dizziness, stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, weakness, shortness of breath, cold extremities, itchy skin, and rashes, the increased potassium level in the blood, vertigo (sudden internal or external spinning sensation) are the common side effects of Telma beta 25mg tablet. Inform your healthcare provider if these side effects disturb or persist in you. Seek immediate medical attention if you experience sepsis (blood poisoning), angioedema (swelling of skin and mucosa), and dizziness on standing up (orthostatic hypotension).
Before treatment with Telma beta 25mg tablet, let your physician know if you are experiencing any allergic reaction to Telmisartan or Metoprolol and its ingredients. Report to your physician if you have kidney or severe liver diseases such as cholestasis or biliary obstruction (impairment of bile flow from the liver to the small intestine), heart problems, low blood pressure, diabetes, elevated potassium levels, renal artery stenosis (narrowing of blood vessels in the kidney), raised aldosterone levels, cardiogenic shock, phaeochromocytoma (tumor of adrenal glands) and planned for surgery. Hence, your doctor may regularly monitor your kidney function, blood pressure, and the number of electrolytes (potassium) in your blood at regular intervals. It is not recommended for children and adolescents (aged below 18 years).

Metoprolol functions specifically on the heart to lower heart rate and reduce blood pressure. Together, they improve the blood flow and pump the heart more efficiently.

Breast Feeding
Telma beta 25mg tablet is probably unsafe to use during breastfeeding. If you want to breastfeed, your doctor may recommend a different treatment, especially if your baby is a newborn or was born prematurely.
Alcohol
Avoid consuming alcohol with Telma beta 25mg tablet as it aggravates low blood pressure.
Liver
Telma beta 25mg tablet should be used cautiously in liver impairment or severe liver disease patients. Inform your doctor if you have any liver diseases before initiating the treatment.
Lungs
It is unknown whether Telma beta 25mg tablet can be used in patients with lung problems. Inform your physician if you have any lung problems before initiating the treatment.
Driving
Do not drive or operate machinery because Telma beta 25mg tablet can cause dizziness or tiredness.
Pregnancy
Telma beta 25mg tablet is unsafe to use during early pregnancy, especially in the third month. Hence, it can cause harmful effects on the developing fetus. Inform your physician if you become pregnant during the treatment.
