Introduction to Visvin 50mg Injection
Visvin 50mg Injection contains the active substance decitabine. It is an antineoplastic drug that belongs to the class of medications called DNA methylation inhibitors. It is used to treat myelodysplastic syndrome (a group of conditions in which the bone marrow produces blood cells that are misshapen and do not produce enough healthy blood cells).
It is also used to treat a type of cancer called acute myeloid leukaemia (AML). It works by stopping the cancer cells from growing. Do not take this injection if you are allergic to decitabine or any other ingredients of this medicine. Inform your physician if you have an infection, decreased blood cell count, liver disease, kidney disorder, or a heart disorder.
This medicine is not recommended for children or young people below 18 years of age. This medicine can cause a serious immune reaction called differentiation syndrome. Report to your physician if you face any symptoms of sudden difficulty in breathing, cough, fever, or swelling in the body.
Visvin 50mg Injection should not be used in pregnant and breastfeeding women. Inform your physician if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Use effective contraception throughout the therapy to avoid pregnancy. The common adverse reactions are decreased white blood cells, red blood cells, platelet counts, and increased body temperature.
Uses of Visvin 50mg Injection
Visvin 50mg Injection is used in the treatment of the following:
- Myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS)
- Acute myeloid leukemia (AML)
Therapeutic Effects of Visvin 50mg Injection
Visvin 50mg Injection promotes hypomethylation of DNA and cellular differentiation or cell death after phosphorylation, direct incorporation into DNA, and inhibition of DNA methyltransferase. It works by helping the bone marrow produce normal blood cells and by killing abnormal cells in the bone marrow.
Interaction of Visvin 50mg Injection with other drugs
Inform your healthcare provider about all the medicines you take, including prescription medications, over-the-counter medications, nutritional and vitamin supplements, and herbal products. Certain medications may interact with Visvin 50mg Injection and reduce its effectiveness by causing undesirable side effects.

How to consume Visvin 50mg Injection
It will be given to you by a doctor or nurse in a hospital or clinic setting trained in cancer chemotherapy. It is given as an intravenous infusion drip (into your vein). This will take one hour. Do not self-administer the injection. Your doctor will decide the dose and duration of the treatment based on your disease severity, body weight, and other factors.
Safety Advice for Visvin 50mg Injection
Breast Feeding
Breastfeeding is not recommended in patients taking Visvin 50mg Injection because the medicine passes into the breast milk in small amounts and may harm your baby.
Alcohol
It is unknown whether alcohol consumption is safe while you are undergoing a Visvin 50mg Injection course. It is recommended to consult your doctor for better guidance.
Liver
It is unknown whether Visvin 50mg Injection can be used in patients with liver disorders. Consult your doctor if you have any liver problems before starting the treatment.
Lungs
It is unknown whether Visvin 50mg Injection can be used in patients with lung disorders. Consult your doctor if you have any lung diseases before starting the treatment.
Driving
Visvin 50mg Injection may make you feel tired, dizzy, or sleepy. It is unsafe to drive or operate heavy machinery after taking this medicine.
Pregnancy
Visvin 50mg Injection is unsafe to administer in pregnant women because it may affect the fetus. Inform your physician if you are pregnant, suspect pregnancy, or planning to become pregnant. Using an effective birth control method during the treatment and for 6 months after your last dose is necessary.
Side Effects of Visvin 50mg Injection
Side effects are unwanted symptoms caused by medicines. Even though all drugs cause side effects, not everyone gets them.
Common side effects of Visvin 50mg Injection are:
- Swelling in the face, hands, and feet
- Swelling and pain in the skin
- Discoloration of the skin
- Increased blood sugar levels
- Decreased albumin levels
- Abdominal pain, constipation
- Decrease in appetite
- Diarrhea, indigestion
- Nausea, vomiting
- Insomnia, dizziness
- Pain in limbs
Serious side effects of Visvin 50mg Injection are:
- Heart problems
- Anemia
- Infection
- Bleeding
- Fluid in the lungs
- Pneumonia
Word of Advice
Male patient with a female partner of reproductive potential to use effective contraception during the therapy and for 3 months after the last dose. Report symptoms of infection, anaemia, or bleeding immediately to your doctor. Do not breastfeed during the treatment and for 1 week after the last dose. Visvin 50mg Injection may cause infertility in both men and women. Inform your doctor if you are planning for pregnancy before initiating the treatment. Visvin 50mg Injection may make you bleed, bruise, or get infections more easily. Take precautions to prevent illness and injury. Wash your hands often. Your doctor may advise you to take certain tests to check for the effectiveness of the therapy.
