Introduction

Yurpeak 10 mg KwikPen contains Tirzepatide as its active ingredient. It is a prescription medicine supplied as a multi-dose, single-patient-use prefilled pen. Each dose contains 10 mg of Tirzepatide in 0.6 mL, and one pen provides four once-weekly doses. The total volume of the pen is 2.4 mL. Yurpeak is manufactured by Eli Lilly Italia S.p.A. and marketed in India by Cipla Ltd.

Uses

Yurpeak 10 mg KwikPen is used:

  • For type 2 diabetes mellitus: To improve blood sugar control along with diet and exercise.

  • For weight management: To support weight loss and weight maintenance in adults with obesity or overweight and at least one weight-related health condition. It is used along with a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity.

Yurpeak is a prescription medicine and should be used under medical advice. Cipla's Indian product information describes tirzepatide as an adjunct to diet and exercise for type 2 diabetes and chronic weight management in adults with obesity or overweight and a weight-related comorbidity.

How Yurpeak 10 mg KwikPen Works

Yurpeak 10 mg KwikPen contains Tirzepatide, which acts on two hormone receptors called GIP and GLP-1 receptors. These receptors regulate blood sugar and appetite.

Tirzepatide increases insulin release when blood sugar is high and reduces glucagon release, a hormone that raises blood sugar. It also slows stomach emptying and can reduce appetite and food intake. These actions help improve blood sugar control and support weight management.

Interaction of Yurpeak 10 mg KwikPen with Other Medicines

Tell your doctor about all prescription medicines, over-the-counter medicines, vitamins and herbal supplements you take.

  • Insulin and sulfonylureas: Using Yurpeak 10 mg KwikPen with these medicines can increase the risk of low blood sugar. Your doctor may adjust their dose.

  • Medicines taken by mouth: Tirzepatide slows stomach emptying and may affect the absorption of some medicines taken by mouth.

  • Oral hormonal contraceptives: Tirzepatide may reduce the effectiveness of oral hormonal contraceptives because of its effect on stomach emptying, particularly when treatment is started or the dose is increased. Discuss contraception with your doctor.

Storage Conditions

  • Store Yurpeak 10 mg KwikPen in a refrigerator at 2°C to 8°C.

  • Do not freeze Yurpeak 10 mg KwikPen. Do not use the pen if it has been frozen.

  • Keep the pen in its original carton to protect it from light.

  • The Yurpeak packaging specifies that the pen can be stored unrefrigerated at temperatures below 30°C for up to 30 days.

  • Discard the pen 30 days after first use.

  • Keep Yurpeak 10 mg KwikPen out of reach of children.

How to Use

Use Yurpeak 10 mg KwikPen exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Tirzepatide treatment is usually started at 2.5 mg once weekly for four weeks before increasing to 5 mg once weekly. If further dose escalation is required, your doctor may increase the dose by 2.5 mg after at least four weeks on the current dose. Increase the dose only as directed by your prescriber.

Use Yurpeak 10 mg KwikPen once a week. Each pen provides four once-weekly doses of 10 mg Tirzepatide in 0.6 mL per dose. Follow the administration instructions supplied with the KwikPen and those demonstrated by your doctor or pharmacist.

Inject Yurpeak under the skin of the abdomen, thigh or upper arm as instructed by your healthcare professional. Rotate injection sites and use a new compatible pen needle for each injection.

Do not change the dose or stop treatment without medical advice.

Lungs-Consult Your Doctor

Driving

Safe

Side Effects

Common side effects:

  • Nausea

  • Diarrhoea

  • Vomiting

  • Constipation

  • Abdominal pain

  • Indigestion

  • Decreased appetite

These effects are more common at higher doses and may become less noticeable with continued treatment.

Serious side effects:

  • Low blood sugar, particularly when used with insulin or sulfonylureas

  • Worsening diabetic eye disease in people with a history of diabetic retinopathy

Seek medical attention for severe or persistent abdominal pain, particularly if the pain spreads to the back.

Tell your doctor if you have severe gastrointestinal disease, including gastroparesis, before using Yurpeak 10 mg KwikPen. Persistent vomiting or diarrhoea can cause dehydration and may affect kidney function.

People with diabetic retinopathy should tell their doctor about any changes in vision. Your doctor may monitor your eye condition during treatment.

Tell your doctor before surgery or a procedure involving general anaesthesia or deep sedation. Tirzepatide slows stomach emptying, which may increase the risk of stomach contents entering the lungs during some procedures.

Expert Tips

  • Use Yurpeak 10 mg KwikPen exactly as prescribed. Do not increase or reduce the dose on your own.

  • Follow the diet and physical activity plan recommended by your doctor.

  • Tell your doctor if you use insulin or a sulfonylurea because Yurpeak can increase the risk of low blood sugar when used with these medicines.

  • Seek medical advice if you develop severe or persistent abdominal pain, particularly if it spreads to the back.

  • Tell your doctor if you have severe gastrointestinal disease or develop persistent vomiting or diarrhoea, as dehydration can affect kidney function.

  • Tell your doctor about any changes in vision, especially if you have diabetic retinopathy.

  • Tell your doctor before surgery or a procedure involving general anaesthesia or deep sedation.

  • If you use oral hormonal contraceptives, discuss contraception with your doctor when starting Yurpeak and after dose increases.
