The U.S. FDA-approved Human Hepatitis B immunoglobulin to treat people protected from the hepatitis B virus on  January 30, 2006. It is usually given with the hepatitis B vaccine. 

Uses of HEPATITIS B IMMUNOGLOBULIN VACCINE

Human Hepatitis B immunoglobulin is used in adults and children to protect from the hepatitis B virus, usually given with the hepatitis B vaccine. The Hepatitis B virus damages the liver and gradually stops the liver from working properly. Additionally, this medicine can also be given to newborn babies born to mothers with the hepatitis B virus.

Human Hepatitis B immunoglobulin vaccine is administered into a muscle or deep under the skin.
