Tazobactam + Cefepime belongs to the therapeutic class of Fourth-generation cephalosporin antibiotics.

Tazobactam + Cefepime is a broad-spectrum antibiotic used to treat various bacterial infections, including pneumonia, UTIs, skin and soft tissue infections, intra-abdominal infections, bone and joint infections, sepsis, and meningitis.

Tazobactam + Cefepime is administered intravenously (IV) or intramuscularly (IM) by a healthcare professional. The dose and frequency of administration of this medication will depend on the type and severity of the infection being treated.

Tazobactam + Cefepime can cause some side effects, such as diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, rash, itching, and pain at the injection site. Serious side effects are rare but may include allergic reactions, anaphylaxis, CDAD, encephalopathy, neurotoxicity, and seizures.

Tazobactam + Cefepime can cause allergic reactions, including anaphylaxis, a severe allergic reaction that can be life-threatening. Tazobactam + Cefepime can cause Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea (CDAD). It can cause seizures, especially in people with a history of seizures. It can kill the good bacteria that live in your body, leading to superinfection, an infection caused by bacteria resistant to antibiotics.

If you experience any signs of an allergic reaction, such as hives, difficulty breathing, or swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat, stop taking Tazobactam + Cefepime immediately and seek medical attention. If you experience seizures while taking it, stop taking it immediately and talk to your doctor. Talk to your doctor if you experience any signs of a superinfection, such as a new or worsening infection.

Tell your doctor about all the other medications you are taking before starting Tazobactam + Cefepime can interact with other medications, such as warfarin, probenecid, and methotrexate. Tell your doctor if you have any allergies, especially to other antibiotics. Tell your doctor if you have any kidney or liver disease. It should be used with caution in people with kidney or liver disease. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. It should only be used in pregnancy and breastfeeding if the potential benefits outweigh the risks. Avoid alcohol while using it as it can interact with this medication and increase the risk of side effects. Be careful driving or operating machinery while using it.
