• Prophylaxis of Deep vein thrombosis (DVT)

• Prevent blood clots

It is a direct oral anticoagulant (DOAC) that works by inhibiting the activity of factor Xa, which is a protein involved in the blood clotting process. Specifically, this drug binds to the active site of factor Xa and blocks its ability to convert prothrombin to thrombin. Thus, preventing the formation of blood clots.

Inform your healthcare provider about all the medicines you take, including prescription medications, over-the-counter medications, nutritional or vitamin supplements, and herbal products. Certain medications may interact with Eliquis 2.5mg tablet and reduce effectiveness by causing undesirable side effects.

• Store Eliquis 2.5mg tablet in a controlled room temperature(20°C to 25°C).
• Keep it out of reach from children.

Your doctor will decide the dose and duration of the Eliquis 2.5mg tablet based on the disease condition. Always take this medicine as prescribed by your doctor. The recommended starting oral dose of Eliquis 2.5mg Tablet twice daily. Take the tablet at the same time every day, with or without food. Do not chew, crush, or break the tablet. Swallow the whole tablet with water. If you forgot to take the tablet, simply take your next dose at the scheduled time. Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose.

Side effects are unwanted symptoms caused by medicines. Even though all drugs cause side effects, not everyone gets them. Eliquis 2.5mg side effects are 

Serious

• Allergic reactions
• Abnormal liver function
• Low blood pressure, fainting
• Bleeding in vagina, stomach, nose, red stools.
• Allergic reactions like swelling in lips, face, throat.
• Bleeding in brain
   

Common

• Skin rash
• Hair loss
• Itching
• Reduced number of platelets

• Increased risk of bruising: Eliquis 2.5mg tablet may increase the chances of bruising, so take care while using sharp objects or engaging in activities that could cause injury.

• Inform your doctor before procedures: Always tell your doctor before undergoing any medical or dental procedures, including surgeries, so that proper precautions can be taken.

• Drug interactions: Share details of all medications you are currently taking, including prescription drugs, over-the-counter medicines, supplements, and herbal remedies.

• Dietary advice: Maintain a consistent intake of fiber-rich foods such as fruits, vegetables, and whole grains to regulate bowel movements. This helps reduce constipation, which can increase the risk of bleeding.
