Leugard 22.5mg Depot Injection is used in the treatment of the following:

• Prostate cancer
• Hormone-responsive breast cancer in perimenopausal (around menopause) women
• Endometriosis (a painful illness in which the tissue that normally lines the inside of the uterus grows outside of your uterus)
• Central precocious puberty in children under 10 years (a child’s body begins to change into an adult too soon caused by a release of certain hormones)

Leugard 22.5mg Depot Injection causes the pituitary gland's GnRH receptors to become desensitized, which lowers the amount of LH and FSH secreted. In the end, this leads to a decrease in the synthesis of sex hormones, specifically estrogen in females and testosterone in males. This helps to slow the growth of cancer cells, reduce the size of uterine fibroids, and alleviate the symptoms of endometriosis and early onset of puberty.

Inform your healthcare provider about all the medicines you take, including prescription, over-the-counter, nutritional and vitamin supplements, vaccines, and herbal products. Certain medications may interact with Leugard 22.5mg Depot Injection may cause undesirable side effects.

• Store in a cool, dry place, away from direct heat and light.
• Store below 25oC
• Do not refrigerate or freeze.

Leugard 22.5mg Depot Injection is usually administered in the arm, thigh or abdomen. If this injection is recommended for you, it will be given by a healthcare professional. Do not self-administer. Your physician will choose the dosage and administration frequency based on the medical condition because it differs for each person.

Side effects are unwanted symptoms caused by medicines. Even though all medicines cause side effects, not everyone gets them.

Common

• Injection site reactions
• Loss of appetite
• Swelling in the ankle or hand
• Difficulty sleeping, headache
• Mood swings, depression
• Weight changes
• Nausea, vomiting
• Vaginal dryness, bleeding
• Loss of interest in sexual intercourse
• Hot flushes
• Bone pain, muscle weakness
• Breast tenderness

During the treatment of breast cancer, regular checkups every three months during the treatment with the combination of an aromatase inhibitor. Do not receive this injection if you experience any abnormal vaginal bleeding. Consult your doctor immediately if you or your child is suffering from a headache, even after treating it with painkillers, vision problems, buzzing, or ringing in the ear. If you have diabetes, ask your doctor to monitor your glucose and blood sugar levels regularly. 

Before starting, inform your doctor if you are still menstruating. If you suffer weakness or dizziness as a side effect of Leugard 22.5mg Depot Injection, stay away from hard lifting and taxing activities. If you notice a loss of appetite, don't worry if it lasts for a day or two, but if it persists or if you are losing weight, inform your nurse or dietitian for guidance. 

They may recommend supplements, dietary changes, or adjustments to eating habits to address these issues. This treatment can affect fertility in men and women. If you are worried about this, it is important to talk with your doctor before you start this treatment.
