Mitomet ML 40mg Injection is used to treat

• pancreatic cancer, breast cancer and stomach cancer

• As an adjunct to ab externo glaucoma surgery

It is an alkylating drug that works by interfering with genetic material (DNA)synthesis and the induction of DNA damage, leading to the death of cancer cells.

1. Cisplatin (Severe)
   Using Mitomet with cisplatin may increase the risk of kidney and bone marrow toxicity. This combination should be used only under strict medical supervision.

2. Doxorubicin (Severe)
   Concurrent use may intensify heart and bone marrow related side effects. Close monitoring by your oncologist is essential.

3. Bleomycin (Severe)
   Combining these medicines may worsen lung toxicity. Use together only if clearly required and monitored carefully.

4. Cyclophosphamide (Moderate)
   This combination can increase the risk of low blood cell counts. Regular blood tests are advised during treatment.

5. Vincristine (Moderate)
   Using both may enhance neurological side effects such as numbness or tingling. Inform your doctor if symptoms worsen.

• Store Mitomet ML 40mg Injection in the original package at room temperature (25°C). Do not freeze.

• Keep it out of reach from children and pets.

• It is important to get the dose at the scheduled time. If you missed the schedule, contact your doctor and reschedule the dose.

The medicine will be administered to you by a healthcare professional in a hospital setting. This injection will be given intravenously into a vein in your arm or hand. Do not self-administer this medicine. The dose of the injection will be decided by your doctor based on your disease condition and other factors. It is intended for topical application to the surgical site of glaucoma filtration surgery. It is not intended for intraocular administration. 

During the infusion, the patient will be closely monitored for any adverse reactions, such as allergic reactions or changes in blood pressure or heart rate. Do not self-administer this medicine.

Side effects are unwanted symptoms caused by medicines. Even though all drugs cause side effects, not everyone gets them.

 Severe side effects of Mitomet ML 40mg Injection are:

• Severe allergic reactions (faintness, skin rash, swelling of lips, face and airway with difficulty in breathing, loss of consciousness)

• Severe lung disease

• Kidney problems

Common side effects of Mitomet ML 40mg Injection are:

• Nausea, vomiting

• Low blood cell count

• Cough, shortness of breath

• Inflammation

• Bruising, bleeding

• Numbness, swelling and painful redness on palms and soles

• Mitomet ML 40mg Injection can harm a developing fetus, so it should not be used during pregnancy, and effective contraception must be followed.

• This injection may cause fatigue, so patients should be encouraged to get enough rest and focus on self-care during treatment.

• Advise patients to avoid contact with sick individuals, maintain good hand hygiene, and take precautions to reduce infection risk.

• In stomach cancer, Mitomet ML 40mg Injection may be combined with chemotherapy drugs like fluorouracil (5 FU) and cisplatin, especially in advanced or metastatic cases.

• Since the medicine can weaken the immune system, patients should avoid infection exposure and include immune boosting foods like broccoli, ginger, and spinach in their diet.
