Introduction
Obeda 3 mg Tablet contains semaglutide 3 mg, a recombinant DNA technology-derived GLP-1 receptor agonist. It is an oral prescription medicine used in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus along with diet and exercise to improve blood glucose control. Dr. Reddy's Laboratories has received DCGI approval for its semaglutide tablets in India.
The 3 mg strength is generally used as the starting dose of oral semaglutide. It is usually taken once daily for the first month before the dose is increased by the doctor, if required.
Uses of Obeda 3 mg
Obeda 3 mg is used for:
Improving blood glucose control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus
Supporting diabetes management along with diet and exercise
The doctor decides the appropriate dose and duration of treatment.
How Obeda 3 mg Works
Obeda 3 mg contains semaglutide, which mimics the action of GLP-1, a hormone involved in blood glucose regulation.
It increases insulin release when blood glucose levels are high and reduces glucagon secretion. It also slows gastric emptying and can reduce appetite. These effects help lower blood glucose levels in people with type 2 diabetes.
Interactions of Obeda 3 mg with Other Medicines
Tell your doctor about all medicines you take before starting Obeda 3 mg.
Insulin or sulfonylureas: Using semaglutide with these medicines can increase the risk of low blood sugar. Your doctor may adjust their doses.
Levothyroxine: Oral semaglutide can affect levothyroxine exposure. Your doctor may monitor thyroid function when these medicines are used together.
Warfarin or other oral anticoagulants: Closer monitoring of blood clotting may be needed when treatment is started.
Other oral medicines: Semaglutide can delay gastric emptying and may affect the absorption of medicines taken by mouth. Taking other oral medicines at the same time can also reduce semaglutide absorption.
Other semaglutide-containing medicines or GLP-1 receptor agonists: Do not use these together with Obeda unless specifically advised by your doctor.
Storage Conditions
Store Obeda 3 mg at a temperature not exceeding 30°C.
Keep the tablets in their original blister pack.

Safety Advice
Pregnancy
Semaglutide should not be used during pregnancy. If you are planning a pregnancy, discuss your treatment with your doctor. Semaglutide should be stopped at least 2 months before a planned pregnancy.
