Penicitin 250mg Capsule contains the active substance penicillamine. Primarily it is a chelating agent, which means it can bind to certain metals in your body, including copper and lead, to help remove them from your body. It is used to treat Wilson’s disease and lead poisoning. It also belongs to a group of medicines called DMARDS (disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs). It helps to relieve the pain and stiffness caused by rheumatoid arthritis in adults and children. It also treats still’s diseases in children. 

Penicitin 250mg Capsule also treats a kidney problem called cystinuria in adults and children. It is also indicated to treat chronic active hepatitis (a type of liver disease)  in adults. Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to penicillamine or any of the other ingredients of this medicine. Do not take this medicine if you have ever had a reduction in WBC after taking this medicine. Do not take this medicine if you have ever had aplastic anemia (severe reduction in blood cells), lupus erythematosus (an allergic condition that causes skin rashes), or kidney problems. 

Do not consume penicitin capsule if you have ever had thrombocytopenia (a blood disorder that causes bleeding into your skin, bruising, and more bleeding than usual after an injury).Penicitin 250mg Capsule 10's is also prescribed for a rare kidney condition called cystinuria in adults and children. Moreover, it is indicated for the treatment of chronic active hepatitis, a type of long-standing liver inflammation in adults.

As a chelating agent, Penicitin 250mg Capsule chelates mercury, lead, copper, iron, and probably other heavy metals to form stable, soluble complexes that are readily excreted in the urine. In cystinuria, it lowers excess cystine excretion. It also inhibits the production of tropocollagen cross-links and cleaves them when newly created. The method of action in rheumatoid arthritis is uncertain; however, it appears to reduce disease activity.

Certain medications may interact with Penicitin 250mg Capsule and reduce its effectiveness by causing undesirable side effects.

Take the penicitin 250 mg as prescribed by your doctor. Your doctor will decide the dose and duration of the treatment based on the disease condition and other factors. Swallow the capsules as a whole with a glass of water. Do not break, chew, crush, or dissolve the capsules. Take the capsules on an empty stomach.
