Semalix 7 Tablet is used for:

• Type 2 diabetes mellitus: It is used along with diet and exercise to improve blood sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes.

• Maintenance treatment: The 7 mg strength may be used after the initial 3 mg treatment period, depending on the treatment plan prescribed by your doctor.

Semalix 7 Tablet contains Semaglutide, which mimics the action of GLP-1, a natural hormone involved in blood sugar regulation.

It increases insulin release when blood glucose levels are high and reduces glucagon release. It also slows stomach emptying, which can increase fullness and contribute to reduced food intake. These effects help improve blood sugar control.

Tell your doctor about all prescription medicines, over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, supplements and herbal products you take.

• Insulin and sulfonylureas: May increase the risk of low blood sugar when used with Semalix.

• Other oral medicines: Semaglutide delays stomach emptying and may affect the absorption of some oral medicines.

• Other Semaglutide-containing medicines: Do not combine them with Semalix unless specifically prescribed.

• Other GLP-1 receptor agonists: Do not use another GLP-1 receptor agonist with Semalix unless advised by your doctor.

• Store Semalix 7 Tablet below 30°C.

• Keep it in its original packaging and protect it from moisture.

• Keep it out of the sight and reach of children.

Take Semalix 7 Tablet exactly as prescribed by your doctor.

• Take it once daily, first thing in the morning on an empty stomach.

• Swallow the tablet whole with a small amount of plain water. Do not split, crush or chew it.

• Take it at least 30 minutes before eating, drinking or taking any other oral medicine.

• The 7 mg strength is generally used after the initial 3 mg treatment period.

• If additional blood sugar control is needed, your doctor may increase the dose to 14 mg after at least 30 days on 7 mg.

• Do not change the dose or stop treatment without medical advice.

• If you miss a dose, skip it and take the next dose the following day. Do not take two doses together.

Common side effects:

• Nausea

• Abdominal pain

• Diarrhoea

• Decreased appetite

• Vomiting

• Constipation

These side effects are particularly common during dose escalation and may improve with continued treatment.

Serious side effects:

• Pancreatitis: Severe or persistent abdominal pain, sometimes spreading to the back.

• Severe gastrointestinal reactions: Persistent vomiting, diarrhoea or severe stomach-related symptoms.

• Hypoglycaemia: Particularly when Semalix is used with insulin or sulfonylureas.

• Acute kidney injury: May occur following significant fluid loss from vomiting or diarrhoea.

• Diabetic retinopathy complications: New or worsening vision changes require medical attention.

• Gallbladder problems: Severe abdominal pain, fever or yellowing of the skin or eyes.

• Serious allergic reactions: Swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat or difficulty breathing.

Seek prompt medical attention if you develop symptoms suggesting a serious reaction.

• Take Semalix 7 Tablet at the same time each day as prescribed.

• Take it with only a small amount of plain water and wait at least 30 minutes before food or other oral medicines.

• Do not increase the dose without your doctor's advice.

• Monitor your blood sugar as recommended.

• Tell your doctor if you use insulin or a sulfonylurea.

• Seek medical advice for severe abdominal pain, persistent vomiting or diarrhoea, or changes in vision.

• Tell your doctor before surgery or deep sedation.

• Do not combine Semalix with another Semaglutide-containing medicine or GLP-1 receptor agonist unless specifically prescribed.

• Do not use Semalix if you have a personal or family history of MTC or MEN2.
