How Trilavir mini tablet works

The reverse transcriptase enzyme produces copies of the DNA of HIV. Lamivudine and Tenofovir are Nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors. Efavirenz is a Nonnucleoside Reverse Transcriptase Inhibitor that directly inhibits the enzyme reverse transcriptase. This blocks the replication and reproduction of the virus.

Inform your healthcare provider about all the medicines you take, including prescription medications, over-the-counter medications, nutritional and vitamin supplements, and herbal products. Certain medications interact with Trilavir mini tablet and reduce its effectiveness by causing undesirable side effects.

  • Antacids (Moderate to Severe) - Medicines such as aluminum hydroxide, magnesium hydroxide, or calcium carbonate may reduce the absorption of Trilavir Mini Tablet. Take antacids at least 2 hours before or after taking this medication.

  • Anticonvulsants (Severe) - Medicines such as phenytoin, carbamazepine, or phenobarbital may reduce the effectiveness of efavirenz and increase the risk of treatment failure. Your doctor may need to adjust dosages or monitor closely.

  • Antimycobacterials (Severe) - Rifampicin and rifabutin may significantly reduce the blood levels of efavirenz and other components. Alternative treatments or dose adjustments may be necessary.

  • Antifungal Medicines (Moderate) - Drugs like voriconazole, itraconazole, or ketoconazole may interact with Trilavir Mini Tablet, affecting blood levels of both medications. Your doctor will monitor and adjust dosages if needed.

  • St. John's Wort (Severe) - This herbal supplement can significantly reduce the effectiveness of Trilavir Mini Tablet and lead to treatment failure or viral resistance. Avoid use during treatment.

  • Warfarin and Anticoagulants (Moderate) - Blood thinners may have altered effects when taken with this medication. Regular monitoring of blood clotting times is recommended.
