Trustiva Tablet is used to treat HIV-1 infection.

Trustiva Tablet has therapeutic effects in treating HIV infection and pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP). They work by inhibiting HIV replication, reducing viral load, improving immune function, and slowing the progression of HIV disease. In individuals with HIV, these medications help control the virus, maintain a low viral load, and improve overall health outcomes.

Taking Trustiva Tablet (efavirenz + emtricitabine + tenofovir disoproxil fumarate) with any of the following medicines can change the effect of either of them and may increase the risk of serious side effects.

1. Rifampicin (Oral Route) Life-threatening
   Use only under strict medical supervision.
   Rifampicin may reduce efavirenz levels and decrease the effectiveness of HIV treatment.

2. Carbamazepine, Phenytoin, or Phenobarbital (Oral Route) Life-threatening
   Avoid using together.
   These medicines may lower efavirenz levels and increase the risk of treatment failure.

3. St John’s Wort (Herbal Route) Life-threatening
   Do not take them together.
   This herbal product may significantly reduce the effect of the medicine and lead to viral resistance.

4. Voriconazole (Oral/Injection Route) Life-threatening
   Avoid concomitant use.
   Efavirenz may reduce voriconazole levels, while voriconazole may increase efavirenz levels, leading to reduced effectiveness or increased side effects.

5. Atazanavir or other protease inhibitors (Oral Route) Moderate
   Use with caution.
   Dose adjustment may be required as efavirenz can alter blood levels of these medicines.

• Store at a temperature between 20°C to 25°C (68°F to 77°F).

• Keep away from moisture, heat, and light.

• It should not be frozen.

• Keep it in its original packaging.

• Keep away from children and pets.

To properly consume Trustiva Tablet, follow your healthcare provider's instructions regarding dosage, frequency, and duration. Take it with or without food, swallowing the tablets or capsules with water. Adhere to the prescribed dosing schedule; do not alter the dosage without consulting your healthcare provider.

Trustiva Tablets cause side effects like all medications, although not everyone will experience them. 

Serious:

• Kidney problems or renal toxicity

• Decreased bone mineral density or bone loss

• Lactic acidosis (a huge accumulation of lactic acid in the blood)

• Hepatic steatosis (fat accumulation in the liver)

• Immune reconstitution syndrome (a paradoxical worsening of pre-existing infections or inflammatory conditions when the immune system strengthens)

Common:

• Nausea

• Diarrhea

• Headache

• Fatigue

• Dizziness

• Insomnia

• Rash

• Before starting Trustiva Tablet, understand the possible risks and discuss them with your doctor.

• Pregnancy and breastfeeding require careful medical evaluation to balance benefits and potential risks.

• Use this medicine cautiously if you have liver disease, kidney disease, or bone disorders, as it may worsen these conditions.

• Regular monitoring and proper medical management are important during treatment.

• Stay in regular contact with your healthcare provider to ensure safe and effective use.
