Valparin 500mg Tablet is an anticonvulsant medication that belongs to a class of drugs known as sodium channel modulators, containing the active ingredient Sodium valproate. It is used to treat epilepsy, including various types of seizures and epilepsy syndromes. Epilepsy is a neurological disorder caused by recurrent and unpredictable seizures, which result from abnormal electrical activity in the brain. These seizures may lead to loss of consciousness, muscle spasms, convulsions, altered sensations, or behavioral changes. Valparin 500mg Tablet may also be prescribed for neurological conditions like bipolar disorder and migraines.
Do not use Valparin 500mg Tablet if you are allergic to Sodium valproate or any other ingredients in the medicine. It should be avoided in individuals with porphyria (a rare condition affecting red blood cell breakdown), a history of severe liver problems, urea cycle disorder, or mitochondrial disorders like Alpers-Huttenlocher syndrome.
