Winrevair uses for: 

• Treatment of pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) in adults

• Improvement in exercise ability and physical activity

• Reduction in symptoms such as breathlessness, fatigue, and chest discomfort

• Slowing the progression of PAH

• Lowering the risk of hospitalisation due to worsening condition

It is often used alongside other PAH medications for better disease control.

Winrevair 60mg Injection belongs to a class of medicines known as activin receptor signalling inhibitors.

In patients with PAH, an imbalance in certain cellular pathways leads to narrowing and thickening of the blood vessels in the lungs. This increases resistance to blood flow and raises blood pressure in the pulmonary arteries.

This medicine works by:

• Blocking abnormal activin signalling pathways

• Restoring balance between cell growth and repair

• Reducing excessive cell proliferation in lung blood vessels

• Improving the structure and function of pulmonary arteries

As a result, it lowers lung blood pressure and reduces strain on the heart.

Winrevair 60mg Injection may interact with certain medicines, especially those affecting blood clotting.

Moderate Interaction

• Anticoagulants (blood thinners): May increase the risk of bleeding

• Antiplatelet medicines: Can enhance bleeding tendency

Mild to Unknown Interaction

• Other pulmonary arterial hypertension medications

• Herbal supplements that affect clotting mechanisms

• Do not freeze

• Keep in original packaging to protect from light

• Use the prepared solution within 4 hours

• Keep out of reach of children

Do not use if the medicine appears discoloured or contains particles.

Winrevair 60mg Injection is administered as a subcutaneous injection under the supervision of a healthcare professional.

• Starting dose: 0.3 mg/kg of body weight

• Maintenance dose: May be increased to 0.7 mg/kg based on patient response

• Frequency: Once every 3 weeks

The dosage may be adjusted depending on laboratory results, especially haemoglobin and platelet levels. Patients should follow their doctor’s instructions strictly and should not change the winrevair 60mg dose on their own.

Common Side Effects

• Headache

• Nosebleeds

• Skin rash or redness

• Diarrhoea

• Dizziness

• Visible small blood vessels on the skin

These effects are usually mild and temporary.

Serious Side Effects

• Severe bleeding episodes

• Increased red blood cell count (erythrocytosis)

• Low platelet levels (thrombocytopenia)

• Risk of blood clots due to thickened blood
