However, caution is required in individuals with diabetes, thromboembolic disorders, or adrenal insufficiency, as it can affect metabolic and hormonal balance, necessitating close medical supervision.

Megacet 40mg Tablet, containing megestrol, may interact with various medications, affecting their efficacy and safety. It can reduce the effectiveness of antidiabetic drugs, potentially leading to increased blood sugar levels, requiring dose adjustments in diabetic patients. Concomitant use with anticoagulants like warfarin may alter blood clotting, necessitating close monitoring of INR levels to prevent bleeding or clotting risks. Corticosteroids and immunosuppressants may experience altered metabolism when taken alongside megestrol, which could impact their therapeutic effects. Additionally, drugs that induce hepatic enzymes, such as rifampin and phenytoin, may lower megestrol levels, reducing its effectiveness, whereas CYP3A4 inhibitors like ketoconazole might increase its concentration, leading to potential side effects. Patients should inform their healthcare provider about all ongoing medications to avoid adverse interactions and ensure safe usage.

Megacet 40mg Tablet should be taken exactly as prescribed by a healthcare professional. It is usually taken orally with or without food, but taking it at the same time each day helps maintain consistent blood levels. The tablet should be swallowed whole with a glass of water and should not be crushed, broken, or chewed. The dosage and duration depend on the patient's medical condition and response to treatment. It is important not to stop or adjust the dose without consulting a doctor. If a dose is missed, it should be taken as soon as remembered, but if it is almost time for the next dose, the missed dose should be skipped to avoid double dosing. Inform the doctor if the patient has any history of kidney, liver, allergic reactions before starting this medication. Kidneys, liver, blood pressure and blood glucose levels should be monitored while taking this medication and avoid taking this medication while planning for pregnancy or during pregnancy as it causes harmful effects on developing babies. This medication should not be stopped without proper advice from the doctor because it can worsen the situation. Inform the doctor immediately if there are any signs of swelling and pain in the limbs, shortness of breath, chest pain, severe headache, or changes in vision.
