Ozempic 0.5mg Injection is used to:

• Manage type 2 diabetes: Semaglutide may be prescribed to improve blood sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus along with diet and physical activity.

• Improve blood sugar control: It helps lower blood glucose levels by increasing insulin release when blood sugar levels are high and reducing the release of glucagon.

• Reduce the risk of diabetes-related complications: Better blood sugar control may help reduce the risk of complications associated with poorly controlled diabetes.

Ozempic is not used to treat type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis.

Ozempic 0.5mg Injection contains Semaglutide, which acts in a similar way to the natural hormone GLP-1. It activates GLP-1 receptors and helps regulate blood sugar levels.

Semaglutide increases insulin release when blood sugar levels are high and reduces the release of glucagon, a hormone that can raise blood sugar. It also slows stomach emptying and can increase feelings of fullness. These effects help improve blood sugar control and may reduce food intake.

Tell your doctor about all medicines, supplements and herbal products you are taking before starting Ozempic.

• Insulin or sulfonylureas: Using Semaglutide with insulin or sulfonylureas can increase the risk of low blood sugar. Your doctor may adjust the dose of these medicines.

• Oral medicines: Semaglutide slows stomach emptying and may affect how quickly some medicines taken by mouth are absorbed. Tell your doctor if you take medicines that require close monitoring.

• Other GLP-1 receptor agonists: Do not use Ozempic with another Semaglutide-containing medicine or another GLP-1 receptor agonist unless specifically prescribed by your doctor.

• Warfarin and other medicines requiring monitoring: Tell your doctor if you take medicines that require regular monitoring, as your treatment may need closer follow-up.

• Store Ozempic 0.5mg Injection in a refrigerator at 2°C to 8°C before use.

• Do not freeze the medicine or store it close to the freezer compartment.

• Do not use the medicine if it has been frozen.

• Protect the pen from light and keep it out of the reach of children.

• Follow the storage instructions printed on the product packaging for any additional instructions about the pen after first use.

Use Ozempic 0.5mg Injection exactly as prescribed by your doctor.

The 0.5mg dose is usually used after the starting dose of Semaglutide. It is injected under the skin once a week. The injection can be given in the abdomen, thigh or upper arm and can be used at any time of the day, with or without food.

Your doctor may adjust the dose depending on your blood sugar control and how well you tolerate the medicine. Do not change the dose yourself.

Do not inject Ozempic into a vein or muscle. Your doctor or nurse should show you the correct injection technique before you use the pen yourself. Use a new needle for each injection and do not share your pen or needles with another person.

Common side effects of Ozempic may include:

• Nausea

• Vomiting

• Diarrhoea

• Constipation

• Abdominal pain

• Headache

• Dizziness

• Indigestion

• Decreased appetite

Nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea are particularly common when Semaglutide treatment is started or the dose is increased. These effects may become less noticeable as treatment continues.

Serious side effects

Seek medical attention if you develop:

• Severe and persistent abdominal pain, which may spread to the back and may be accompanied by vomiting. This can be a sign of pancreatitis.

• Severe allergic reactions, including swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat or difficulty breathing.

• Persistent vomiting or diarrhoea, which can lead to dehydration and kidney problems.

• Gallstones or inflammation of the gallbladder, which may cause abdominal pain, fever or yellowing of the skin or eyes.

• Sudden or worsening changes in vision, particularly if you have diabetes-related eye disease.

• Low blood sugar, particularly when Ozempic is used with insulin or sulfonylureas.

• Use Ozempic exactly as prescribed by your doctor.

• Do not change the dose or stop treatment without medical advice.

• Follow your recommended diet and physical activity plan while using Ozempic.

• Drink enough fluids, especially if you experience vomiting or diarrhoea.

• Rotate injection sites to reduce the risk of injection-site problems.

• Use a new needle for every injection and do not share your pen with anyone else.

• Tell your doctor before surgery or a procedure involving general anaesthesia or deep sedation.

• Tell your doctor if you have diabetic retinopathy or develop changes in your vision.

• Seek medical attention if you develop severe or persistent abdominal pain.
