Introduction
Semaglyn Injection 5mg/ml contains Semaglutide, a GLP-1 receptor agonist. It is a prescription medicine used along with a healthy diet and physical activity to help manage Type 2 diabetes mellitus and obesity.
Semaglyn Injection 5mg/ml is supplied as a 1 mL multidose pre-filled cartridge containing Semaglutide 5 mg/mL. The cartridge is designed for use with a reusable Semaglyn customised pen and is supplied with five needles. It is given as a subcutaneous injection as prescribed by your doctor.
Uses of Semaglyn Injection 5mg/ml
Semaglyn Injection 5mg/ml is used for:
Type 2 diabetes mellitus: Helps improve blood sugar control along with diet and physical activity.
Obesity: Helps support weight management along with a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity.
How the Semaglyn Injection 5mg/ml works
Semaglyn Injection 5mg/ml contains Semaglutide, which mimics the action of GLP-1, a naturally occurring hormone involved in blood sugar and appetite regulation. It increases insulin release when blood sugar levels are high and reduces glucagon release. It also slows stomach emptying and increases feelings of fullness, which can help reduce food intake and support weight management.
Interactions of Semaglyn Injection 5mg/ml with other medicines
Tell your doctor about all medicines you take before using Semaglyn Injection 5mg/ml.
Insulin and sulfonylureas: Using Semaglutide with these medicines may increase the risk of low blood sugar.
Oral medicines: Semaglutide may slow stomach emptying and can affect the absorption of some medicines taken by mouth.
Other Semaglutide-containing medicines: Do not use more than one Semaglutide-containing medicine at the same time unless specifically advised by your doctor.
Other GLP-1 receptor agonists: Concomitant use is generally not recommended.
