Introduction
Semawin 1.7mg Pen Injection contains Semaglutide, a glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist. It is supplied as a 6.8 mg/3 mL pre-filled pen, with each dose delivering 1.7 mg of Semaglutide. It is administered once weekly as directed by the physician.
Semaglutide is used as part of treatment for weight management in eligible adults with obesity or overweight with a weight-related health condition, along with a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity. The 1.7 mg dose is reached after gradual dose escalation.
Semawin 1.7mg Pen Injection is manufactured by Intas Pharmaceuticals Ltd.
Uses of Semawin 1.7mg Pen Injection
Semawin 1.7mg Pen Injection is used to:
Manage obesity in eligible adults.
Manage overweight in adults with a weight-related health condition.
Support weight loss and long-term weight maintenance.
Reduce hunger and food intake as part of a weight-management plan.
The 1.7 mg dose is used after gradual dose escalation and should be taken only according to the schedule prescribed by your doctor.
How Semawin 1.7mg Pen Injection Works
Semaglutide activates GLP-1 receptors involved in appetite and glucose regulation. It can increase insulin release when blood glucose is high and reduce glucagon release.
Semaglutide also delays gastric emptying and increases feelings of fullness. These effects can reduce hunger and food intake and support weight management.

Insulin or sulfonylureas: May increase the risk of low blood sugar.
Other Semaglutide-containing medicines: Do not combine unless prescribed.
Other GLP-1 receptor agonists: Avoid combination unless specifically advised.
Oral medicines: Delayed gastric emptying may affect the absorption of some oral medicines.

FAQs
Q1.
Why am I being given Semawin 1.7mg?
The 1.7 mg strength is used later in the Semaglutide dose-escalation schedule. It may be continued at this strength or increased further depending on how you respond and tolerate treatment.
Q2.
Do I have to increase from 1.7mg to 2.4mg?
Not necessarily. Your doctor will decide the dose that is appropriate for you. If you are having difficulty tolerating a higher dose, your treatment may need to be adjusted.
Q3.
What if I have nausea after moving to 1.7mg?
Nausea and other digestive symptoms can occur after a dose increase. Try smaller meals and maintain your fluid intake. If symptoms are severe or persistent, speak to your doctor.
Q4.
Can Semawin 1.7mg be used for long-term weight management?
Your doctor will decide how long you should continue treatment and which dose is suitable. Treatment may continue as part of a longer-term weight-management plan.
Q5.
Can I take Semawin 1.7mg with food?
Yes. Semawin is injected under the skin and can be used at any time of the day, with or without food.
Q6.
Does the 1.7mg dose work differently from the lower strengths?
The medicine is the same Semaglutide. The difference is the amount given with each weekly dose. The dose is increased gradually during treatment to improve tolerance.
Q7.
Can I use Semawin 1.7mg with another GLP-1 medicine?
No, not unless specifically prescribed. Do not combine Semawin with another Semaglutide-containing product or another GLP-1 receptor agonist.
Q8.
Can Semawin 1.7mg cause low blood sugar?
It is less likely to cause low blood sugar when used alone. The risk increases when Semaglutide is used with insulin or sulfonylureas.
Q9.
Where should I inject Semawin 1.7mg?
Inject it under the skin of your abdomen, thigh, or upper arm. Use the technique shown by your healthcare professional and rotate injection sites.
Q10.
What should I do if I miss my 1.7mg dose?
Follow the missed-dose instructions supplied with your prescription or product information. Do not take two doses together.
Q11.
Can I use Semawin 1.7mg during pregnancy?
No. Semaglutide should not be used during pregnancy. It should be stopped at least 2 months before a planned pregnancy.
