Wegovy 0.5mg FlexTouch is used to:

• Manage obesity: Semaglutide may be prescribed to help adults with obesity lose weight and maintain weight loss when used along with a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity.

• Manage overweight with weight-related health conditions: It may be prescribed for adults who are overweight and have a weight-related health condition.

• Support long-term weight management: Continued treatment may help maintain weight loss when used as part of a long-term weight-management plan.

Wegovy is not used to treat type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis.

Wegovy 0.5mg FlexTouch contains Semaglutide, which acts in a similar way to the natural hormone GLP-1. It activates GLP-1 receptors and helps regulate appetite, food intake and blood sugar levels.

Semaglutide increases feelings of fullness and reduces hunger and food intake. It also slows stomach emptying. These effects, along with a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity, can support weight loss and weight maintenance.

Tell your doctor about all medicines, supplements and herbal products you are taking before starting Wegovy.

• Insulin or sulfonylureas: Using Semaglutide with insulin or sulfonylureas can increase the risk of low blood sugar. Your doctor may adjust the dose of these medicines.

• Oral medicines: Semaglutide slows stomach emptying and may affect how quickly some medicines taken by mouth are absorbed. Tell your doctor if you take medicines that require close monitoring.

• Other GLP-1 receptor agonists: Do not use Wegovy with another Semaglutide-containing medicine or another GLP-1 receptor agonist unless specifically prescribed by your doctor.

• Medicines requiring monitoring: Tell your doctor if you take medicines that require regular monitoring, as your treatment may need closer follow-up.

• Store Wegovy 0.5mg FlexTouch in a refrigerator at 2°C to 8°C before use.

• Do not freeze the medicine or store it close to the freezer compartment.

• Do not use the medicine if it has been frozen.

• Protect the pen from light and keep it out of the reach of children.

• Follow the storage instructions printed on the product packaging for instructions about the pen after first use.

Use Wegovy 0.5mg FlexTouch exactly as prescribed by your doctor.

The 0.5mg dose is used during the gradual dose-increase phase of Semaglutide treatment. It is injected under the skin once a week. The injection can be given in the abdomen, thigh or upper arm and can be used at any time of the day, with or without food.

Your doctor will decide when to increase the dose based on your response and how well you tolerate the medicine. Do not change the dose yourself.

Do not inject Wegovy into a vein or muscle. Your doctor or nurse should show you the correct injection technique before you use the pen yourself. Use a new needle for each injection and do not share your pen or needles with another person

Common side effects of Wegovy may include:

• Nausea

• Vomiting

• Diarrhoea

• Constipation

• Abdominal pain

• Headache

• Dizziness

• Indigestion

• Decreased appetite

Nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea are particularly common when Semaglutide treatment is started or the dose is increased. These effects may become less noticeable as treatment continues.

Serious side effects

Seek medical attention if you develop:

• Severe and persistent abdominal pain, which may spread to the back and may be accompanied by vomiting. This can be a sign of pancreatitis.

• Severe allergic reactions, including swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat or difficulty breathing.

• Persistent vomiting or diarrhoea, which can lead to dehydration and kidney problems.

• Gallstones or inflammation of the gallbladder, which may cause abdominal pain, fever or yellowing of the skin or eyes.

• Sudden or worsening changes in vision, particularly if you have diabetic eye disease.

• Low blood sugar, particularly when Wegovy is used with insulin or sulfonylureas.

• Use Wegovy exactly as prescribed by your doctor.

• Do not change the dose or stop treatment without medical advice.

• Follow your recommended diet and physical activity plan while using Wegovy.

• Drink enough fluids, especially if you experience vomiting or diarrhoea.

• Rotate injection sites to reduce the risk of injection-site problems.

• Use a new needle for every injection and do not share your pen with anyone else.

• Tell your doctor before surgery or a procedure involving general anaesthesia or deep sedation.

• Tell your doctor if you have diabetic retinopathy or develop changes in your vision.

• Seek medical attention if you develop severe or persistent abdominal pain.
