It also prevents DVT and PE from reoccurring after initial treatment in adults. It is also used to help prevent strokes or serious blood clots in adults who have atrial fibrillation (a condition in which the heart beats irregularly, increasing the chance of clots forming in the body and possibly causing strokes) that is not caused by heart valve disease.
Xarelto 15mg tablet is also indicated in children and adolescents below 18 years and with a body weight of 30kg or more to treat blood clots. It is also used to prevent the re-occurrence of blood clots in the veins or the blood vessels of the lungs, following initial treatment of at least 5 days with injectable medicines used to treat blood clots.
