Introduction
Obeda Pro 0.25 mg Pen Injection contains Semaglutide, a medicine that belongs to a group of medicines called GLP-1 receptor agonists. Semaglutide is used as part of treatment for weight management in adults with obesity or overweight with a weight-related health condition. Obeda Pro 0.25 mg Pen Injection is supplied as a prefilled pen and is used along with a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity when prescribed for weight management.
Uses
Obeda Pro 0.25 mg Pen Injection is used to:
Manage obesity: Semaglutide may be prescribed to help adults with obesity lose weight and maintain weight loss when used along with a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity.
Manage overweight with weight-related health conditions: It may be prescribed for adults who are overweight and have a weight-related health condition.
Support long-term weight management: Continued treatment may help maintain weight loss when used as part of a long-term weight-management plan.
Reduce appetite and food intake: Semaglutide can reduce hunger and increase feelings of fullness, which can support reduced food intake and weight management.
Obeda Pro is not used to treat type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis.
How Obeda Pro 0.25 mg Pen Injection Works
Obeda Pro 0.25 mg Pen Injection contains Semaglutide, which acts in a similar way to the natural hormone GLP-1. It activates GLP-1 receptors and helps regulate appetite, food intake and blood sugar levels.
Semaglutide increases insulin release when blood sugar levels are high and reduces the release of glucagon, a hormone that can raise blood sugar. It also slows stomach emptying and can increase feelings of fullness. These effects can reduce hunger and food intake and support weight management.
Interaction of Obeda Pro 0.25 mg Pen Injection with Other Medicines
Tell your doctor about all medicines, supplements and herbal products you are taking before starting Obeda Pro.
Insulin or sulfonylureas: Using Semaglutide with insulin or sulfonylureas can increase the risk of low blood sugar. Your doctor may adjust the dose of these medicines.
Oral medicines: Semaglutide slows stomach emptying and may affect how quickly some medicines taken by mouth are absorbed. Tell your doctor if you take medicines that require close monitoring.
Other GLP-1 receptor agonists: Do not use Obeda Pro with another Semaglutide-containing medicine or another GLP-1 receptor agonist unless specifically prescribed by your doctor.
Warfarin and other medicines requiring monitoring: Tell your doctor if you take medicines that require regular monitoring, as your treatment may need closer follow-up.
Storage Conditions
Store Obeda Pro 0.25 mg Pen Injection in a refrigerator at 2°C to 8°C before use.
Do not freeze the medicine or store it close to the freezer compartment.
Do not use the medicine if it has been frozen.
Protect the pen from light and keep it out of the reach of children.
Follow the storage instructions printed on the product packaging for any additional instructions about the pen after first use.
How to Use Obeda Pro 0.25 mg Pen Injection
Use Obeda Pro 0.25 mg Pen Injection exactly as prescribed by your doctor.
The 0.25 mg dose is used as the starting dose of Semaglutide for weight management. It is injected under the skin once a week. The injection can be given in the abdomen, thigh or upper arm and can be used at any time of the day, with or without food.
The dose is usually increased gradually after the starting period to help reduce gastrointestinal side effects. Your doctor will decide when to increase the dose based on your response and tolerance.
Do not inject Obeda Pro into a vein or muscle. Your doctor or nurse should show you the correct injection technique before you use the pen yourself. Use a new needle for each injection and do not share your pen or needles with another person.
Safety Advice
Pregnancy
Obeda Pro should not be used during pregnancy. If you become pregnant while using Semaglutide or are planning to become pregnant, tell your doctor. Semaglutide should be stopped at least 2 months before a planned pregnancy.
Breast Feeding
Semaglutide should not be used while breastfeeding unless specifically advised by your doctor. Tell your doctor if you are breastfeeding before starting Obeda Pro.
Lungs
Tell your doctor if you are scheduled to undergo surgery involving general anaesthesia or deep sedation. Semaglutide delays stomach emptying, which may increase the risk of aspiration during these procedures.
Liver
Tell your doctor if you have liver disease before using Obeda Pro. Your doctor will decide whether the medicine is suitable for you based on your condition.
Alcohol
Talk to your doctor about alcohol consumption while using Obeda Pro. Alcohol can worsen nausea and vomiting and may affect blood sugar control, particularly in people taking other diabetes medicines.
Driving
Obeda Pro does not usually affect the ability to drive. However, low blood sugar can occur, particularly when Semaglutide is used with insulin or sulfonylureas. Low blood sugar can affect concentration and reaction time. Do not drive if you develop symptoms of hypoglycaemia.
Side Effects
Common side effects of Obeda Pro may include:
Nausea
Vomiting
Diarrhoea
Constipation
Abdominal pain
Headache
Dizziness

Nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea are particularly common when Semaglutide treatment is started or the dose is increased. These effects may become less noticeable as treatment continues.
