Introduction
Obesema 1mg Injection contains Semaglutide, a GLP-1 receptor agonist. It is supplied as a pre-filled injection pen and is used for type 2 diabetes mellitus and chronic weight management in eligible adults.
Alkem Laboratories has received approval for Semaglutide injection for type 2 diabetes mellitus and chronic weight management as an adjunct to diet and exercise.
Uses
Obesema 1mg Injection is used:
To improve blood sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus, along with diet and exercise.
For chronic weight management in eligible adults with obesity or overweight with a weight-related health condition, along with a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity.
How Obesema 1mg Injection Works
Obesema contains Semaglutide, which activates GLP-1 receptors. It helps increase insulin release when blood sugar is high and reduces glucagon release.
Semaglutide also slows stomach emptying and increases fullness, helping reduce food intake and support weight management.
Interaction of Obesema 1mg Injection with Other Medicines
Tell your doctor about all medicines you take.
Insulin and sulfonylureas: May increase the risk of hypoglycaemia.
Oral medicines: Delayed stomach emptying may affect absorption.
Other GLP-1 receptor agonists or Semaglutide medicines: Do not combine unless prescribed by your doctor.
Storage Conditions
Store Obesema according to the product instructions.
Keep refrigerated at 2°C to 8°C before use unless otherwise specified.
Do not freeze.
Protect from light.
Keep out of the sight and reach of children.
How to Use
Obesema 1mg Injection is administered once weekly by subcutaneous injection into the abdomen, thigh or upper arm.
Semaglutide is generally started at a lower dose and increased gradually. The 1 mg strength should only be used according to the dose-escalation schedule prescribed by your doctor.
Safety Advice
Pregnancy
