Introduction
Semaglu 0.25/0.5 Injection contains Semaglutide and is supplied as a pre-filled pen containing 2 mg of Semaglutide in 3 mL. The pen is intended for the lower Semaglutide doses used during treatment initiation and dose escalation.
It is used for type 2 diabetes mellitus and chronic weight management in eligible adults.
Uses
Semaglu 0.25/0.5 Injection is used:
To improve blood sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus, along with diet and exercise.
For chronic weight management in eligible adults with obesity or overweight with a weight-related health condition, along with diet and physical activity.
How Semaglu 0.25/0.5 Injection Works
Semaglutide activates GLP-1 receptors involved in blood sugar and appetite regulation. It increases insulin release when blood glucose is elevated and reduces glucagon release.
It also slows stomach emptying and increases fullness, which can reduce food intake.
Interaction of Semaglu 0.25/0.5 Injection with Other Medicines
Tell your doctor about all medicines, supplements and herbal products you use.
Insulin and sulfonylureas: May increase the risk of low blood sugar.
Oral medicines: Delayed stomach emptying may affect absorption.
Other Semaglutide or GLP-1 medicines: Avoid combining them unless specifically prescribed.
Storage Conditions
Store in a refrigerator at 2°C to 8°C according to the product instructions.
Do not freeze.
Protect from light.
Keep out of the sight and reach of children.
How to Use
Semaglu 0.25/0.5 Injection is administered once weekly by subcutaneous injection into the abdomen, thigh or upper arm.
The 0.25 mg dose is generally used at the beginning of treatment, followed by gradual dose escalation. The prescribed dose should not be changed without medical advice.
Use a new needle for every injection and do not share the pen.
Safety Advice
Pregnancy
Do not use Semaglutide for weight management during pregnancy. It should generally be discontinued at least 2 months before a planned pregnancy.
Breast Feeding
Semaglutide should not be used while breastfeeding because its safety for the breastfed baby has not been established.
Lungs
Tell your doctor before surgery or deep sedation because Semaglutide delays stomach emptying and may increase aspiration risk.

Discuss alcohol consumption with your doctor, especially if you use other blood glucose-lowering medicines.

Dizziness or low blood sugar may affect your ability to drive.
