Introduction
Wyntide 0.25mg/0.5mg Pen Injection contains semaglutide, a GLP-1 receptor agonist used to improve blood sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus. It is used along with diet and exercise as prescribed by your doctor.
Each prefilled pen contains 2 mg of semaglutide in 3 mL and can deliver either 0.25 mg or 0.5 mg doses. The dose is usually increased gradually to help the body adjust to treatment.
Uses of Wyntide 0.25mg/0.5mg Pen Injection
Wyntide 0.25mg/0.5mg Pen Injection is used:
To improve blood sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus
Along with diet and exercise as part of diabetes management
Your doctor will decide the indication, dose and duration of treatment based on your medical condition and response to treatment.
How Wyntide 0.25mg/0.5mg Pen Injection Works
Wyntide contains semaglutide, which mimics the action of the naturally occurring hormone glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1).
It activates GLP-1 receptors and helps control blood glucose by:
Increasing insulin release when blood glucose levels are high
Reducing glucagon release when blood glucose levels are high
Slowing gastric emptying, which can help reduce the rise in blood glucose after meals
These effects help improve blood sugar control.
Interactions of Wyntide 0.25mg/0.5mg Pen Injection with Other Medicines
Tell your doctor about all medicines you take before starting Wyntide.
Insulin and sulfonylureas: Using semaglutide with these medicines can increase the risk of low blood sugar. Your doctor may adjust their dose.
Medicines taken by mouth: Semaglutide delays gastric emptying and may affect the absorption of some medicines taken by mouth.
Warfarin and other coumarin medicines: Additional monitoring may be needed when semaglutide is started in people taking these medicines.
Other GLP-1 receptor agonists: Do not use Wyntide with another semaglutide-containing medicine or another GLP-1 receptor agonist unless specifically prescribed.

Before first use, store Wyntide in a refrigerator at 2°C to 8°C.

Safety Advice
Pregnancy
Wyntide should not be used during pregnancy. If you are planning a pregnancy, speak to your doctor because semaglutide should be discontinued at least 2 months before a planned pregnancy.
Breast Feeding
Tell your doctor if you are breastfeeding before starting Wyntide. Your doctor will assess whether treatment is appropriate.
Lungs
Tell your doctor if you have a lung condition or are scheduled for surgery requiring general anaesthesia or deep sedation. Semaglutide can delay gastric emptying, which may increase the risk of aspiration during such procedures.
Liver
Tell your doctor if you have liver disease before starting Wyntide. Semaglutide generally does not require dose adjustment in people with hepatic impairment, although experience in severe hepatic impairment is limited.
Alcohol
Alcohol can affect blood glucose levels and may make diabetes management more difficult. Discuss alcohol consumption with your doctor while using Wyntide.
Driving
Wyntide does not usually affect the ability to drive. However, low blood sugar can occur when semaglutide is used with insulin or a sulfonylurea and may affect your ability to drive safely.
Side Effects
Wyntide may cause digestive side effects, particularly when treatment is started or the dose is increased.
Common side effects
Nausea
Vomiting
Diarrhoea
Constipation
Abdominal pain
Decreased appetite
Indigestion
Headache
Dizziness
Serious side effects
Seek medical attention if you develop:
Severe or persistent abdominal pain, which may indicate pancreatitis
Severe vomiting or diarrhoea with signs of dehydration
Symptoms of low blood sugar, particularly when using insulin or a sulfonylurea
Sudden changes in vision
Signs of a serious allergic reaction
Symptoms of gallbladder disease
