Introduction
Semaglu 1 Injection contains Semaglutide and is supplied as a pre-filled injection pen containing 4 mg of Semaglutide in 3 mL. It is used for type 2 diabetes mellitus and chronic weight management in eligible adults.
The 4 mg amount refers to the total Semaglutide contained in the pen and is not automatically the weekly dose.
Uses
Semaglu 1 Injection is used:
To improve blood sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus, along with diet and exercise.
For chronic weight management in eligible adults with obesity or overweight with a weight-related health condition.
How Semaglu 1 Injection Works
Semaglu contains Semaglutide, which mimics the action of GLP-1. It helps regulate blood sugar by increasing glucose-dependent insulin release and reducing glucagon release.
It also slows stomach emptying and promotes fullness, helping reduce food intake.
Interaction of Semaglu 1 Injection with Other Medicines
Tell your doctor about all medicines you take.
Insulin and sulfonylureas: May increase the risk of hypoglycaemia.
Oral medicines: Delayed stomach emptying may affect absorption.
Other GLP-1 receptor agonists or Semaglutide medicines: Do not combine unless specifically prescribed.
Storage Conditions
Store in a refrigerator at 2°C to 8°C according to the product instructions.
Do not freeze.
Protect from light.
Keep out of the sight and reach of children.
How to Use
Semaglu 1 Injection is generally given once weekly by subcutaneous injection into the abdomen, thigh or upper arm.
Your doctor may increase the dose gradually depending on your treatment response and tolerability. Do not change the dose yourself.
Safety Advice
Pregnancy
Do not use Semaglutide for weight management during pregnancy. Stop it at least 2 months before a planned pregnancy after discussing this with your doctor.
Breast Feeding
Semaglutide should not be used while breastfeeding because its safety for the breastfed baby has not been established.
Driving
Tell your doctor before surgery or deep sedation because delayed stomach emptying may increase aspiration risk.
Liver
Tell your doctor if you have liver disease.
Alcohol
Discuss alcohol use with your doctor, particularly if you take insulin or other medicines that lower blood sugar.
Driving
Dizziness or hypoglycaemia may affect alertness.
