Introduction
Semanext 15mg Cartridge 3ml contains Semaglutide 15mg in 3mL and is supplied as a cartridge for use with the associated reusable pen system. Semaglutide is a GLP-1 receptor agonist used in adults with type 2 diabetes and for chronic weight management when prescribed for these indications. The 15mg refers to the total amount of Semaglutide in the 3mL cartridge, not a single injection dose.
Uses of Semanext 15mg Cartridge 3ml
Semanext contains Semaglutide, which mimics the action of GLP-1, a natural hormone involved in blood sugar and appetite regulation.
It increases insulin release when blood sugar is high, reduces glucagon release and slows stomach emptying. These effects can improve blood sugar control and reduce hunger and food intake.
Interaction of Semanext 15mg Cartridge 3ml with Other Medicines
Tell your doctor about all medicines, supplements and herbal products you use.
Insulin or sulfonylureas: These can increase the risk of low blood sugar when used with Semaglutide.
Oral medicines: Delayed stomach emptying may affect how some oral medicines are absorbed.
Other GLP-1 receptor agonists: Do not combine Semanext with another Semaglutide-containing medicine or GLP-1 receptor agonist unless prescribed.
Medicines requiring monitoring: Tell your doctor if you take medicines requiring regular monitoring.
Storage Conditions
Store Semanext according to the storage instructions supplied with the cartridge and pen.
Before use, Semaglutide cartridges should generally be refrigerated at 2°C to 8°C.
Do not freeze.
Protect the cartridge from light.
Keep it out of reach of children.
Follow the product packaging for specific instructions after the cartridge has been placed in use.
How to Use
Use Semanext 15mg Cartridge 3ml exactly as prescribed.
The cartridge contains multiple doses and is used with the appropriate reusable pen. It is administered as a subcutaneous injection once weekly into the abdomen, thigh or upper arm.
The prescribed dose may be increased gradually depending on the indication, response and tolerance. The 15mg cartridge strength should not be interpreted as a 15mg weekly injection.
Use the pen only after receiving proper instructions. Do not inject Semanext into a vein or muscle and do not share the pen or needles.
Safety Advice
Pregnancy
Semaglutide should not be used during pregnancy. It should generally be stopped at least 2 months before a planned pregnancy.
Breast Feeding
Semaglutide should not be used while breastfeeding unless specifically advised by your doctor.
Lungs
Tell your doctor before surgery or deep sedation because delayed stomach emptying may increase the risk of aspiration.
Liver
Tell your doctor if you have liver disease before starting treatment.
Alcohol
Alcohol may worsen nausea and vomiting and can affect blood sugar control.
Driving
Low blood sugar can affect concentration and reaction time, particularly when Semanext is used with insulin or sulfonylureas.
Side Effects
Common side effects include
Nausea
vomiting
diarrhoea
constipation
abdominal pain
decreased appetite
headache
dizziness.
Serious side effects:
Severe or persistent abdominal pain

Persistent vomiting or diarrhoea with dehydration
Gallstones or gallbladder inflammation

Low blood sugar when used with insulin or sulfonylureas
Seek medical attention if severe or persistent symptoms occur.
