Introduction
Semawin 0.25mg Pen Injection contains Semaglutide, a GLP-1 receptor agonist used as part of weight-management treatment. It is supplied as a prefilled pen containing Semaglutide 1 mg/1.5 mL and delivers a 0.25 mg dose once a week.
Semaglutide may be prescribed for adults with obesity or overweight along with a weight-related health condition. It is used with a reduced-calorie diet and regular physical activity. The 0.25 mg dose is the starting dose and is usually increased gradually during treatment as advised by the doctor.
Uses of Semawin 0.25mg Pen Injection
Semawin 0.25mg Pen Injection is used to:
Start weight-management treatment: The 0.25 mg dose is used when Semaglutide treatment is first started.
Manage obesity: Semaglutide can support weight loss in adults with obesity when used along with diet and physical activity.
Manage overweight with related health conditions: It may be prescribed for adults who are overweight and have a weight-related health condition.
Support appetite control: Semaglutide can reduce hunger and increase feelings of fullness, which may help reduce food intake.
The 0.25 mg dose is generally used during the initial stage of treatment rather than as the long-term maintenance dose.
How Semawin 0.25mg Pen Injection Works
Semawin contains Semaglutide, which acts in a similar way to the natural hormone GLP-1. It acts on receptors involved in appetite and food intake.
Semaglutide can make you feel full for longer and reduce hunger. It also slows stomach emptying and helps regulate blood sugar levels. These effects can support weight loss when the medicine is used with a reduced-calorie diet and regular physical activity.
Interaction of Semawin 0.25mg Pen Injection with Other Medicines
Tell your doctor about all medicines, supplements and herbal products you take before starting Semawin.
Insulin or sulfonylureas: Using Semaglutide with these medicines can increase the risk of low blood sugar. Your doctor may need to adjust their dose.
Medicines taken by mouth: Semaglutide slows stomach emptying and may affect how quickly some oral medicines are absorbed.
Other GLP-1 receptor agonists: Do not use Semawin with another Semaglutide-containing medicine or another GLP-1 receptor agonist unless prescribed by your doctor.
Medicines requiring regular monitoring: Tell your doctor if you take medicines that need close monitoring, as your treatment may need additional follow-up.
Storage Conditions
Store Semawin 0.25mg Pen Injection in a refrigerator at 2°C to 8°C.
Do not freeze the pen.
Do not use the medicine if it has been frozen.
Keep the pen protected from light.
Keep it out of the reach of children.
After first use, follow the storage instructions provided with the product packaging.
How to Use Semawin 0.25mg Pen Injection
Use Semawin 0.25mg exactly as prescribed by your doctor.
This is the starting dose of Semaglutide for weight-management treatment. It is injected under the skin once a week and can be used at any time of the day, with or without food.
The dose is usually increased gradually after the initial treatment period. Your doctor will decide when to move to the next strength based on how you respond to treatment and whether you are having troublesome side effects.
Inject Semawin into the abdomen, thigh, or upper arm.
Do not inject it into a vein or muscle.
Use the injection technique shown by your doctor or nurse.
Use a new needle for every injection.
Do not share the pen or needles with another person.
Try to use Semawin on the same day each week.
If you miss a dose, follow the missed-dose instructions given by your doctor or the product information.
Safety Advice
Pregnancy
Semawin should not be used during pregnancy. If you are planning a pregnancy, speak to your doctor. Semaglutide should be stopped at least 2 months before a planned pregnancy.
