Introduction
Usema 4mg Injection contains Semaglutide, a medicine in a group called GLP-1 receptor agonists. It is a prescription medicine used to improve blood sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus, along with diet and exercise.
Usema 4mg Injection is supplied as a prefilled pen containing Semaglutide 4 mg/3 mL and is designed to deliver a 1 mg dose per injection. It should be used only as prescribed by your doctor.
Uses of Usema 4mg Injection
Usema 4mg Injection is used to:
Improve blood sugar control in type 2 diabetes mellitus: It helps lower blood glucose levels when used along with diet and exercise.
Support long-term diabetes management: It may be used alone or with other diabetes medicines when additional blood sugar control is needed.
Usema is not used to treat type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis.
How Usema 4mg Injection Works
Usema 4mg Injection contains Semaglutide, which acts like the natural hormone GLP-1 involved in blood sugar regulation.
It increases insulin release when blood sugar levels are high and reduces the release of glucagon, a hormone that raises blood sugar. Semaglutide also slows stomach emptying and can increase feelings of fullness, which may reduce food intake.
Interaction of Usema 4mg Injection with Other Medicines
Tell your doctor about all prescription medicines, over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, supplements, and herbal products you take.
Insulin or sulfonylureas: Using Semaglutide with insulin or medicines such as glimepiride or gliclazide can increase the risk of low blood sugar. Your doctor may adjust the dose of these medicines.
Oral medicines: Semaglutide slows stomach emptying and may affect the absorption of some medicines taken by mouth. Tell your doctor if you take medicines that require close monitoring.
Warfarin or other coumarin medicines: Closer monitoring may be needed when Semaglutide is started or the dose is changed.
Other GLP-1 receptor agonists: Do not use Usema with another Semaglutide-containing medicine or another GLP-1 receptor agonist unless specifically prescribed by your doctor.
Storage Conditions
Store Usema 4mg Injection in a refrigerator at 2°C to 8°C before use.
Do not freeze Usema or store it close to the freezer compartment.
Do not use the medicine if it has been frozen.
Protect the pen from light.
Keep Usema out of the sight and reach of children.
Follow the storage instructions on the product packaging after the pen is first used.
How to Use
Use Usema 4mg Injection exactly as prescribed by your doctor.
The 4 mg/3 mL pen is designed to deliver a 1 mg dose of Semaglutide. It is injected under the skin once a week, usually on the same day each week. It may be given at any time of the day, with or without food.
Inject Usema into the abdomen, thigh, or upper arm. Rotate injection sites when possible. Do not inject it into a vein or muscle.
Your doctor may gradually increase the Semaglutide dose depending on your blood sugar control and how well you tolerate the medicine.
Do not share the pen or needles with another person. Use a new needle for each injection if your device requires a separate needle.
Safety Advice
Pregnancy
Usema should not be used during pregnancy. If you become pregnant while using Semaglutide or are planning to become pregnant, tell your doctor. Semaglutide should generally be stopped at least 2 months before a planned pregnancy.
Breast Feeding
Semaglutide should not be used while breastfeeding unless specifically advised by your doctor. Tell your doctor if you are breastfeeding before starting treatment.
Lungs
Tell your doctor if you are scheduled for surgery or a procedure requiring general anaesthesia or deep sedation. Semaglutide delays stomach emptying, which may increase the risk of aspiration during these procedures.
Liver
Tell your doctor if you have liver disease before using Usema. Your doctor will decide whether the medicine is suitable for you.
Alcohol
Discuss alcohol consumption with your doctor. Alcohol may worsen nausea or vomiting and can affect blood sugar control, particularly when Semaglutide is used with other diabetes medicines.
Driving
Usema does not usually affect the ability to drive. However, low blood sugar can occur, particularly when Semaglutide is used with insulin or sulfonylureas. Do not drive if you develop symptoms of low blood sugar.

Common side effects of Usema 4mg Injection may include:
