GLIPIQ 4mg Pen Injection may be prescribed for:

• Type 2 diabetes mellitus: To improve blood sugar control along with diet and exercise.

• Weight management: Semaglutide may be prescribed for weight management in eligible adults with obesity or overweight and a weight-related health condition, together with a reduced-calorie diet and physical activity.

Semaglutide acts like GLP-1 and helps regulate blood sugar by increasing insulin release when blood sugar is high and reducing glucagon release.

It also slows stomach emptying and may increase fullness, which can reduce food intake.

• Insulin or sulfonylureas: May increase the risk of low blood sugar.

• Oral medicines: Delayed stomach emptying may affect absorption of some medicines.

• Other Semaglutide-containing medicines: Do not combine unless specifically prescribed.

• Other GLP-1 receptor agonists: Do not use together unless your doctor advises you to do so.

• Store at 2°C to 8°C before use.

• Do not freeze.

• Keep away from the freezer compartment or cooling element.

• Protect from light.

• Keep out of sight and reach of children.

• Follow the pack instructions for storage after first use.

• Use GLIPIQ exactly as prescribed.

• Inject under the skin once weekly.

• Suitable injection sites include the abdomen, thigh or upper arm.

• It can be used with or without food.

• Do not change the dose or injection day without medical advice.

• Use a new needle for each injection.

• Never share the pen or needles.

• Check that the solution is clear and colourless before use.

The 4 mg total content should not automatically be interpreted as a 4 mg injection. The dose delivered depends on the pen presentation and the prescribed dose. Semaglutide injection dosing is increased gradually when required.

Common side effects:

• Nausea

• Constipation

• Abdominal pain

• Decreased appetite

• Indigestion

• Headache

• Dizziness

Serious side effects:

• Pancreatitis

• Severe allergic reaction

• Dehydration and kidney problems

• Gallbladder problems

• Vision changes

• Hypoglycaemia

Seek medical help if severe abdominal pain persists or spreads towards the back.

• Use GLIPIQ once weekly on the day prescribed.

• Do not increase the dose yourself.

• Keep yourself adequately hydrated, particularly if vomiting or diarrhoea occurs.

• Smaller meals may help if you experience nausea or early fullness.

• Tell your doctor about previous pancreatitis, gallbladder problems, diabetic retinopathy or severe gastrointestinal problems.

• Tell the anaesthesia team that you are using Semaglutide before surgery or deep sedation.

• Never share the pen or needles.
