Introduction
GLIPIQ 8mg Pen Injection contains Semaglutide as its active ingredient. It is a prescription medicine belonging to the GLP-1 receptor agonist group.
The 8 mg refers to the total Semaglutide content of the pen. It is designed to deliver the prescribed maintenance dose rather than indicating that 8 mg should be injected at one time.
Uses
GLIPIQ 8mg Pen Injection may be prescribed for:
Type 2 diabetes mellitus: To improve blood sugar control with diet and exercise.
Weight management: Semaglutide may be prescribed to eligible adults with obesity or overweight and a weight-related health condition, together with lifestyle changes.
How GLIPIQ 8mg Pen Injection Works
Semaglutide mimics GLP-1 and helps the body regulate blood glucose. It increases insulin release when glucose levels are high and reduces glucagon secretion.
It also slows stomach emptying and increases fullness, which can reduce food intake.
Interaction of GLIPIQ 8mg Pen Injection with Other Medicines
Insulin and sulfonylureas: May increase the risk of hypoglycaemia.
Oral medicines: Delayed stomach emptying may affect absorption.
Other Semaglutide medicines: Avoid combination unless specifically prescribed.
Other GLP-1 receptor agonists: Should not generally be used together without medical advice.
Storage Conditions
Store unopened pens at 2°C to 8°C.
Do not freeze.
Keep away from the cooling element.
Protect from light.
Keep out of reach of children.
Follow the product instructions after first use.
How to Use
Inject GLIPIQ under the skin once weekly.
Use the abdomen, thigh or upper arm.
It may be used with or without food.
Use the dose selected by your doctor.
Do not change the dose or schedule yourself.
Use a new needle for each injection.
Do not share the pen or needles.
Check the solution before injection. It should be clear and colourless.
The 8 mg total pen content should not be confused with an 8 mg injection. Semaglutide injection products use lower prescribed doses per injection, with gradual dose escalation where appropriate.
Safety Advice
Pregnancy
GLIPIQ 8mg should not be used during pregnancy. If you are planning a pregnancy, tell your doctor because Semaglutide should generally be stopped at least 2 months before a planned pregnancy.
Breast Feeding
Tell your doctor if you are breastfeeding. Semaglutide is not recommended during breastfeeding unless your doctor decides that treatment is appropriate.
Lungs
Tell your doctor if you have a significant respiratory condition or are scheduled for surgery or a procedure requiring general anaesthesia or deep sedation.
Liver
Tell your doctor if you have liver disease before starting treatment.
Alcohol
Alcohol may affect blood sugar control and can worsen symptoms such as nausea or vomiting.
Driving
Semaglutide does not usually affect driving. However, dizziness or low blood sugar may affect concentration, particularly when Semaglutide is used with insulin or a sulfonylurea.
