Introduction
Semanat 2mg Pen Injection contains Semaglutide as its active ingredient. It is a prescription medicine belonging to the GLP-1 receptor agonist group.
The 2 mg refers to the total amount of Semaglutide in the pen. This lower-strength presentation is used for the initial doses prescribed during Semaglutide treatment.
Uses
Semanat 2mg Pen Injection may be prescribed for:
Type 2 diabetes mellitus: To help improve blood sugar control with diet and exercise.
Weight management: Semaglutide may be used in eligible adults with obesity or overweight and a weight-related health condition, together with reduced-calorie eating and increased physical activity.
How Semanat 2mg Pen Injection Works
Semaglutide acts like GLP-1. It increases insulin release when blood glucose is high and reduces glucagon release.
It also slows stomach emptying and can increase fullness, helping reduce food intake.
Interaction of Semanat 2mg Pen Injection with Other Medicines
Insulin or sulfonylureas may increase the risk of low blood sugar.
Delayed stomach emptying may affect some oral medicines.
Do not use another Semaglutide-containing medicine unless prescribed.
Do not combine Semanat with another GLP-1 receptor agonist without medical advice.
Storage Conditions
Store at 2°C to 8°C before use.
Do not freeze.
Protect from light.
Keep away from the freezer compartment or cooling element.
Keep out of sight and reach of children.
Follow the product instructions after first use.
How to Use
Use Semanat exactly as prescribed.
Inject under the skin once weekly.
Injection sites include the abdomen, thigh or upper arm.
It may be used with or without food.
The 2 mg total content is not the same as a 2 mg injection dose.
The prescribed dose is generally increased gradually.
Use a new needle for each injection.
Do not share the pen or needles.
Do not use the solution if it is cloudy, coloured or contains particles.
Safety Advice
Pregnancy
Semanat should not be used during pregnancy. If you are planning a pregnancy, tell your doctor because Semaglutide should generally be stopped at least 2 months before a planned pregnancy.
Breast Feeding
Tell your doctor if you are breastfeeding. Semaglutide is not recommended during breastfeeding unless your doctor decides that treatment is appropriate.
Lungs
Tell your doctor if you have a significant respiratory condition or are scheduled for surgery or a procedure requiring general anaesthesia or deep sedation.
Liver
Tell your doctor if you have liver disease before starting treatment.
Alcohol
Alcohol may affect blood sugar control and can worsen symptoms such as nausea or vomiting.
Driving
Semanat does not usually affect driving. However, dizziness or low blood sugar may affect concentration, particularly when Semaglutide is used with insulin or a sulfonylurea.
